SEP News

On 29th January 2015, we were made aware by a number of customers of a spam / phishing email sent from a 'Terry Dharni', with a message appearing to be from HSBC, complete with Specialised Engineering Products contact information in the footer. This email was sent at around 3:45pm-4:15pm GMT, via our MailChimp account (the service we use to send out our quarterly newsletters & announcements). This was not us.

Having fully investigated the issue and liaised extensively with MailChimp, they have confirmed to us that this is an isolated incident and no email address or details were stolen; our account was simply targeted to send the above mentioned email. We do not know why.

If you haven't done so already, please delete / disregard, do not open the email, links or any attachments that may be with it, or follow any instructions written in the email.

We would've preferred to have alerted you as soon as the incident occurred but thankfully, MailChimp were fast to act and temporarily locked our account to prevent further wrongdoings.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused and we are determined to ensure an incident like this doesn't occur again in the future.

Once again, many thanks for your cooperation and support with this issue. These things do unfortunately happen.
